Production Blog: Editing day 2

Today I worked on editing my project. I added the titles I needed today. This wasn't very hard because iMovie does provide title templates in the app so that made it easier when it comes to placement and design of my titles. Since I already started a bit of editing a couple weeks ago I already had an idea of where I wanted each clip to go and how much time I had left. But this still left a lot of work for me to do today. Started with editing the clips down from my iPhone, like I normally do and transferred the clips to my MacBook via airdrop. Then, I just put all of the clips I shot in iMovie. But upon the realization that not every single clip i shot couldn't fit in there. I under estimated how short two minutes actually was and I ended up scrapping a little more than half of my storyboard to get the opening to be two minutes. this caused the ending to look a little choppy, which I honestly wasn't expecting because Cleary the clips dont line up. I had to pull from various parts of my storyboard to make it work because at this point its too lae to reshoot any of the clips to make this work. So yeah, I did scrap most of my storyboard  but when I finally did get it down to 2 minutes it still made sense and got the story across as best it could I think. One thing I just don't like is how choppy the end looked but there was honestly nothing I could do about that. Literally, my clips totaled to 5 minutes before I cut it down to 2, so you can really imagine how much content ended up being scrapped. Anyhow, moving on to actually inserting the titles. I had a lot of trouble with this part too. Much more than initially expected while writing the first part of this entry. My issues was that the order of the titles weren't matching up with the clips as well as I wanted them to. Since the title of the film was displayed after about a minute and some into the opening, it left such a large amount of time between the actor names and the film title. That would mean I'd have to cram 10+ title into only one minute of remaining footage. It took a bit of trial and error but I eventually got it down and included my titles with all the original designs I had planned. That concluded the editing portion of my project.
