Title Research: The Breakfast Club

The next movie I observed the title sequence of is The Breakfast Club. The opening sequence for this movie capped out at around two minutes, ass most do. Majority of the opening was a black screen with text while music was playing. the titles that were displayed were mainly giving credit to the production crew and company along with the directors. For example, the sequence starts with the Universal opening, giving credit t the as a production studio. Next, The title of the movie is displayed. After that, each starring actor gets their own title of recognition and this continues for a couple more seconds. Lastly, the credit is given to the individual producers and directors. After all the titles are done being displayed, a shot of the school where the movie takes place is shown. this establishing shot shows the location that the plot will be taking place. This is the only shot from the movie that we see in the sequence. It's is accompanied by a voice over of one of the characters. This shot has a very neutral connotation to it, in my opinion, since they're not giving me a not to go off of. I suppose this image isn't meant to elicit a specific reaction from the audience but there for establishing the setting. The outset of the film illustrates the genre it the VoiceOver at the end. Because the image being shows was very vague as to what the movie will be about, the VoiceOver provided context and implied that it was going to be a drama film. The main strategy used to captivate the audience is suspense. Th suspense that the VoiceOver leaves makes the audience more likely to watch the trrest of the movie. This is common among many opening sequences. I would say that tenchonolgy wasn't exactly used to he best of its ability in this opening. Although there were transitions between the various titles shown, when it comes to giving the audience context about the movie it was lacking, almost. We only got to see a small glimpse of the setting of the movie at the vey end of the sequence with a little VoiceOver that provided context. I feel that a broader variety of shots and transitions could've been used in this one.
