I think that my product, the Prom Queen music video, uses and challenges many conventions of music videos. some of the following include, telling a story over time, captivating visuals and lyric and visual correlation. My music video told the story of a girl that struggles with self image and tries to become someone she's not over the course of the music video in hopes hat she too can become the perfect "Prom Queen". My product also incorporates lyric and visual correlation in many scenes. One of the most notable being when the lyrics say "Theres plastic wrap in my cheeks" where the girl removes the plastic wrap she put in her checks to make them appear fuller like the woman I the picture. There weren't many conventions that I used specifically from the alternative rock genre but that's because the theme of the music video wasn't supposed to be "edgy" like most alternative rock music videos are. In this particular music video, the issue bei

My Prom Queen Music Video

This is my music video for the song, Prom Queen by Beach Bunny. This project took a really long time to get together and I'm so glad it turned out almost like I had it planned in my head. It feels like I've been working on this for such a long time even though its only been about two weeks, to be honest. Much like my last project, this was such a learning experience for me. Ive learned from my shortcomings last time and purchased tripod to help me capture better scenes this time around. This made my filming process much easier than before. I was able to shoot all of my scenes without assistance and I'm really proud of that. Throughout this project my editing skills have gotten much better too. I was able to make my video flow really well together with minimal transitions. I ended up not adding transitions between every scene because some of them didn't really need it. I felt that it looked better without transitions in some places. Although I am proud of my video, there

Editing Blog: Prom Queen in Progress

I started editing yesterday, December 6th, 2020. I started with Airdropping the shots I took on my phone to my MacBook. Then, I transferred them to my photo gallery in order for me to use them in iMovie. Once they were all successfully imported into the software, I put them in their intended orders as they were on my storyboard. Then, I added the song then trimmed it down to one minute. After that, I took my time and trimmed the individual clips down to my desired length. This went well until about the scene where the girl contemplates putting makeup on to look more like the woman in the picture. At this point I've realized that the scene was too short. I ended up having to extend the next scene to compensate for the seconds missed. This is where it started to get a bit difficult to match up with the pacing of the music. Because of this one mishap, it became harder to match the scenes to their corresponding lyrics. I don't think it would be incredibly noticeable without knowle

Filming Blog: Prom Queen

Image
I filmed the 2nd half of my project today, November 28th. I filmed the last 7 scenes of my music video today. I started off with the same outfit I wore in the previous scene to prevent inconsistency throughout the music video. I fixed the lighting issue that I had on the day before also. Im not sure how big of a contrast it will create when I edit the clips together but hopefully it isn't that noticeable that the lighting changed halfway throughout the song. This is the day that I used majority of the props like plastic wrap and multiple makeup products along with markers as well. I would say that filming today went well for the most part. When it was time for me to shot the montage of the subject's makeup process it was a little tedious and time consuming. As a result, it drained my battery pretty quickly and I frequently had to charge my phone between scenes. One of the most difficult scenes to shoot was the 10th scene where the girl takes the plastic wrap out of her mouth. B
